The Sisu Warrior: Emilia lahti

Published 07.02.2017 | Topic: Warriors

What is sisu? “An action mind-set which enables individuals to reach beyond their present limitations, take action against all odds and transform barriers into frontiers.” - Emilia Lahti

Emilia truly knows the deeper meaning of the Finnish term “sisu”. This Warrior ran and biked across the length of New Zealand, which means 1500 miles (2400 km) in 50 days - and she ran for a reason. Her mission via her project Sisu Not Silence is to break the silence around violence and celebrate the strength of overcomers.

Emilia is a peace activist, superwoman and a community builder, who is working on a doctoral dissertation about sisu. She experienced domestic violence in her previous relationship and now she wants to give a voice for the women, men and children, who are suffering or have experienced emotional or physical hurting in their lives.

Emilia is there on the starting line to eliminate the shame and guilt surrounding this subject. She helps people to overcome their experiences by setting an example and we all can help her on this journey. We here at Warrior Coffee support this amazing woman and her mission by taking up the baton spreading this important message.

We joined the moment!

We at Warrior Coffee challenged ourselves to show the Finnish sisu that is bubbling inside us! We wanted to speak up loud and clear so Emilia's message can be heard all over the world! We arranged Warrior Sisu run 2017 to promote Emilia Lahti's campaign against violence.

We held Sisu Run 2017 by Warrior Coffee on 28th February in Kuusijärvi, Vantaa, Finland. We had an easy sporty event with Tomi Kokko followed by a dip into ice bath. That is after all what Finnish sisu is all about; cold water - hrr....

We think that, no matter how big or small you do it, you can support this important campaign - even Emilia's main event is over. Post a picture of your act, where true SISU is shown. Spread the word on social media!

This Warrior ran and biked over 50 ultra marathons, we can surround her with support and chime in to help make this campaigns message happen in everyday life!
